In December of 2022 I hired a broker to find me a Mitsubishi JB470 in Japan. I wired the money and the van sat at the port in Yokohama for 7 months! After a LONG wait we were able to get the Van a ride on a ship to Galveston, TX and this 2 part series details picking up the van and the adventure as I took it from the Port of Galveston all the way to Portland, OR and back to Salt Lake City!

I just completed a 10,000 mile trip in her crossing canada and the united states. That being said, its very slow, and very unstable in high wind. I never tipped over though and mine has been lifted 2 inches.

How did you get that shifter to work I have one and beginning to think about putting old one back , no matter what I do it scatches reverse.
It sounds like you may need to make some adjustments. Mine works perfectly, I havent had any issues. I am installing a new transmission though now, non-porsche, so we will see if I can make it work with it.

Hey! I’m a Utah UA-camr as well. Super stoked I found your channel. If it doesn’t sell, I may look at a 93’ JB500 next week. He says it runs good, instrument cluster doesn’t work though. Goal is to live in in full time. My understanding is that it’s pretty much a Delica chassis? Are parts and service difficult to deal with? Anything you suggest I keep an eye on? Thanks for reading!
Thanks for stopping by one thing to remember is the 500 weighs more than the 470 and these things are very very slow like 40 miles an hour up a hill sometimes. I don’t know how good the deal is on it, but it is a cool vehicle for sure. Parts are very hard to get though I have had two breakdowns on my current journey and it was a weak of waiting for each part I couldn’t get anything without express shipping that took over three days plus the repair. That is the one thing when I bought this I thought would be easier to get our parts. I did not realize it would be so difficult and every time I bought parts, they say this is the last one of these or you can’t find these outside of Japan now that kind of stuff

What are some of the parts you have had to wait on? Is it more general parts like oil filters air filters, water pump etc? Or is it more like parts of the motor or transmission? Thanks what websites do you use for parts?
In other words would it be worth it to stock up on certain parts to avoid waiting?
Mine is a 1999, and it has a different layout than yours. Mine has a shower and composting toliet. Fabulous vehicle, l live near Banff and these are tanks. If you ever want to sell your back up monitor, mine was broken by vandals

That sucks. I’m literally going through the same thing right now with my Elantra N. I got hit going across an intersection in the right lane of the street and some girl tried to make a right turn from the left lane and hit me against my driver side door and wheel. The cars name is Elana and she’s getting fixed up now but it’s a pain in the ass. I miss my baby and I feel your pain. lol
Sorry to hear that! Yeah luckily the doors are the worst. The rest is really just plastic panels etc that get painted and put on. I think the repair quote is around $14,000
